One of the most creative music videos Ive ever seen, sometimes I wish commercial artists would take more risks and step out the box w/a video like this…… And they wonder why MTV started stopped showing videos.. Step Up Majors

This is an amazing song, I have a feeling u will hear an interpolation of this song or this may be a rare ocassion when I do sample a song, enjoy! What do u think of it?

From time to time i get a DM (private direct msg) on twitter/myspace asking about my production setup. Well here’s the run down, my main rig is controlled from my Open Labs Timbaland Neko (No not cuz of the Timbaland endorsement in fact that was a turn off. I started making music w/a computer then progressed into hardware and this piece was the perfect combo of the the technologies also software emulations have improved substancially over the years and the ASR Sounds are still at my fingertips for a more vintage sound).

The Neko is the main sequencer/recorder/host for everything I do. I also own an ASR10 which I cut on from time to time to impress the older folk and hip hop heads but I havent used it for anything in over a year. I use “Groove Tubes The Brick” as my preamp of choice and KRK V8s as my main monitoring system with the Rokit 5s and a pair of cheap speakers as my lofi reference monitors (I had a pair of NS10s but sold em after damaging them in my move to texas :-( sad sad day lol).

Stephan Buitron my guitar player wields a Fender as his guitar of choice and we record guitars thru a Shure KSM27 Microphone, SM58, SM57 or combo of the 3.

Stefan Grover, my bass player also uses a Fender Bass and we run all guitars thru the software fx of my chosing sometimes we even use synths run thru guitar fx to make em sound like a real guitar and then mix w/the guitars to give it a different sound. I do that quite a bit actually.

I also have an Alesis DM4 and I use that to trigger drums via MIDI…Im sure half of you reading this have probably already feel asleep by now and all thats left is 2 secret pieces of gear that probably I wouldnt tell you about anywayz haha

Often times persons with heavy workloads have issues with organization. How many times have you said to yourself “I wish there were more hours in the day?” Well I am no exception, this morning I decided to do something about it and begun  brainstorming ways to micro manage my time and invest in a strict schedule. Creative persons hate restrictions but in an old Quincy Jones Special I was randomly watching a few weeks back (Youtube… Sorry dont watch tv) he said something that at the time struck an accord but I didnt fully understand ”the more restrictions I had, the more freedom I had.”

well Im off to schedule the rest of my life
